Threshold Choir The Threshold Choir honors the ancient tradition of singing at the bedsides of people who are struggling, some with living, some with dying. The voice, as the original human instrument, is a true and gracious vehicle for compassion and comfort. When invited, we visit the bedsides a few times a week in small groups and we invite families and caregivers to join us in song, or to participate by listening. Our repertoire is chosen to respond to musical taste, spiritual direction and physical capacity. It might include rounds, chants, lullabies, hymns, spirituals, or classical choral music. The choirs provide opportunities for women to share the gifts of their voices in compassion and truth at life's thresholds; a sacred, delightful way to build community and be part of a unique, co-created adventure. Threshold
choirs currently meet in Marin, Sonoma, Alameda, San Francisco, Santa
Cruz, Contra Costa and San Mateo Counties (California) and in Bolinas,
Aromas, Point Reyes and Chico, CA and Milwaukee, WI and Ashland, OR
and Seattle, WA; and soon in Sacramento, CA and Portland, OR, Reno,
NV, Raleigh/Durham, NC, A new CD of members' songs, called "LISTENING at the Threshold", with some of the choir's most treasured songs to sing at bedsides, is currently available. I
encourage you to visit the Threshold
